Winemaker NotesPol Roger, one of a few luxury Champagne firms still family-owned, was established in Epernay in 1849. Pol Roger owns 200 acres of vineyards, which provide about 45% of their needs. Pol Roger's cellars extend over four miles of winding chalk passageways on two levels. The second or deeper cellar maintains a constant 9.5 C (50 F), one degree lower than the first level and most others in the region. This lower temperature slows the second fermentation, encouraging a finer mousse or bubbles. Pol Roger Champagne also spends two to three times the allowable minimum in the cellar before disgorgement, or about three years for the non-vintage and up to seven for the luxury cuvées. The long, slow maturation contributes greatly to the complex aromas, which distinguish these superb Champagnes. The Brut Non Vintage blend is traditionally composed from about 30 to 35 still base wines, drawn from different vineyard sites, grape varieties and vintage years. It usually contains wines of at least two vintages, often three or four. Reserve wines compose between 20-30% of the traditional blend. The Brut NV is never sold until the youngest component is at least three years old, which gives it more character and body.Pale gold with a very fine bead; flowery, delicately toasty aroma with fruit and complexity; creamy, beautifully balanced with a dry, harmonious finish.(special case pricing available)

Winemaker Notes Réserve Brut is the result of a subtle marriage of three grape varieties. It is a blend of seven distinct years, together beautifully balanced, a perfect harmony of richness, fruitiness and freshness. A genuine expression of terroir, a tribute to the excellence and singularity of each year’s harvest. Marked by honeysuckle and a hint of vanilla on the nose with an elegant foam. Plentiful in baked fruits: Mirabelle plum with a slight spice on the mid-palate that gives way to a long candied tropical-fruit and brisk mineral finish.

Winemaker NotesA light golden color and fine, vivacious bubbles, holding a promise of pleasure. Aromas of flowers in bloom, ripe, dried and citrus fruits, as well as marzipan and gingerbread. Grilled notes and flavors of almond paste, quince, lemon, limoncello and dried fruit.Krug Grande Cuvée lends itself to a wealth of culinary combinations, from the simplest to the most sophisticated, from an aged parmesan to turbot à la truffe. (special case pricing available)

Winemaker NotesThe delicate nose unfolds in swaths of color. The green of eucalyptus, mint and vetiver, the yellow-orange of mirabelle plums, apricot and orange blossom, the brown of pepper, cardamom and licorice sticks, and finally silvery saline and toasty hues. The mouthfeel is elegant, expressing luxuriant simplicity and precision. The attack is enveloping and ethereal. The refined and silky foundation becomes more pronounced at the heart. The finish is dominated by a salinity that leaves a deep sensation of consistency. (special case pricing available)

Winemaker's Notes Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label is the signature champagne of the House. Dominated by Pinot Noir, it offers the perfect balance of structure and finesse. Golden-yellow in color, with a foaming necklace of tiny bubbles. It is pleasing to the nose; initially reminiscent of yellow and white fruits, then of vanilla and later brioche. Note the fine balance between the fruity aromas coming from the grape varieties and the toasty notes, the result of the three years of bottle aging. The first sip delivers all the freshness and strength so typical of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label with a symphony of fruit following (pear, lemon). It is a true member of the Brut family, well-structured, admirably vinous.

Winemaker NotesA golden hue with soft, glowing highlights. Fine, steady, gentle bubbles. Powerful and complex on the palate, revealing a mixture of yellow fruit (mirabelle plum), juicy, ripe fruits (nectarine), citrus peel (candied orange) and finely-roasted nuts (hazelnut). The nose is simultaneously powdery and sweet, with elegant, chalky notes. Gentle, tactile and full-bodied on the palate. The bubbles create a gentle, vibrating sensation, then the wine becomes soft, dense and juicy. But it is the chalky freshness that quickly sets the tone: the sweetness becomes energetic and intense, giving the wine an elegant yet powerful texture. Fine, textured tannins reveal a poised and vinous dimension to the wine. The finish is savory and saline. Blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay (special case pricing available)

98 Jeb Dunnuck Review Date: 11/2023 Originally a part of the legendary Piper-Heidsieck Champagne house, Rare is moving their Champagne Millésime to a new brand and want it to stand alone. (Think Delamotte and Salon.) The 13th vintage for this cuvée, the 2013 Champagne Millésime is a blend is 70% Chardonnay with the rest Pinot Noir, with the majority of the blend coming from the Montagne de Reims Grand Cru and Premier Cru. A bright yellow hue, its aromatics are exquisite and well-balanced, with fresh notes of key lime, candied apple, fresh croissant dough, fresh pineapple, and honeysuckle. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with a rounded and supple texture and a pillowy mousse. It’s long on the palate and has a silky personality as well as a long, pristine finish. It has fantastic balance of decadence and freshness, and I could drink this all day. It’s going to have a long drinking window.

Winemaker Notes Cristal is Louis Roederer’s flagship cuvée. It was created in 1876 and is composed of Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley, and the Côte des Blancs. Cristal 2008 was bottle-aged for 8 years before being left to rest for at least 8 months after disgorging in order to attain perfect maturity. Amber hue with green and orange tints. Fine, even and lively sparkle. Complex and intense bouquet disclosing candied citrus, yellow fruit, Williams pear, pollen, and toasted almond. The delicately seductive bouquet shows intensity and well-honed precision. The wine is powerful, full yet tight, on entry to the palate. The 2008 vintage is undeniably well structured but in a particular way: the wine’s almost saline concentration has not been created by the sun but is derived from the dryness of the chalk soil in a particularly cool summer. The result is a smooth, almost liquorous, mouthfeel that coats the palate with a powerful yet soft texture. This gives way to an incredible finish, underpinned by freshness and an impression of absolute purity with a taut and very saline character. The Cristal 2008 is deep, intense and masterful. It offers the quintessential reflection of its chalk soils which lend it is velvety texture and delicate tension. This wine’s energy has been tamed by an unusually long period of bottle ageing: Cristal 2008 was in fact aged for 10 years before its release on the market. A first! Blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay 100 points Suckling 100 points Dunnuck

With a great mid palate weight and earthy tannic structure, there is no doubt you are drinking a Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2012 Dominus is a wild, exotic wine. Harvest began on October 9 and finished on the 21st, very late by present-day standards. Ripe red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, rose petal, incense and rose petal soar out of the glass. Deep and vibrant, with terrific freshness, Dominus is very clearly one of the wines of the year. I loved the 2012 from barrel, but found it quite closed after bottling. Now, after all these years, I finally see the realization of the potential suggested in my barrel tastings. Magnificent

Winemaker Notes #9 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2022 As this slowly begins to unwind in the glass it releases gorgeous aromas of blackberries, dark plums and Creme de cassis that are accented by graphite, violets, herbs, sweet spices and mocha which all take shape beautifully. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and incredibly fresh, with a round polished texture and a dense layered core of ripe dark fruits that expands seamlessly into the lavish finish. While the 2018 is already stunning to drink in its youth, it should ultimately go on to have a brilliant future ahead and evolve gracefully for at least two decades

Organic Cabernet Sauvignon from Maremma Toscana. Prelius Castelprile is the Maremma Toscana Estate of Federica Mascheroni Stianti of Volpaia. The lable represents the fluid, the essence of the ancient alluvial lake Prelius, now know as Maremma Toscana. The lake has slowly disappeared due to the Ombrone's floodings and today the only fluid remaining is the wine tradition of the region.

While the wine has sufficient tannins and structure for long-term bottle aging, Caymus Cabernet is dark and concentrated, with ripe, luxurious, fruit-driven softness that shows from the day of release.

Bright with a dark purple/black core lightening to ruby/purple at the rim, with slowly forming, moderately stained tears on the glass. Complex and attractively aromatic, showing very ripe cherry and black currant fruit followed by savory notes of cedar, pipe tobacco, vanilla bean, baking spice, and warm oak.

Winemaker Notes This wine has fresh and vibrant aromas of sliced green apple, white peach, and honeysuckle with integrated notes of baked apple and puff pastry on the palate. It is round, layered, and complex with a refreshing acidity that leads to a full and lengthy finish.

Aged for 10 months in a combination of new and “experienced” French oak, stainless steel and concrete, this Chardonnay combines a rich, round mouthfeel with enough acidity to make lips tingle. EnRoute Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, "Les Pommiers"Blended from three of the most coveted vineyards in the Russian River Valley The resulting wine is generous yet soft, with notes of strawberry preserves and fresh rain on the forest floor.

Winemaker Notes The aromas of the vine flowers, excessive attack and the finish that is worth premier cru. An absolute revelation of tasting.Pair with fresh pasta with truffles, Pike perch with white butter sauce or Bresse chicken.Critical AcclaimJD94Jeb DunnuckClassic spiced orchard fruits, brioche, toasted bread, and white flower notes all emerge from the 2016 Meursault Le Clos Des Grands Charrons (Monopole). It's a richer, textured, layered Meursault that has good acidity, terrific balance, and a great finish. This is another incredibly impressive white from this estate that will keep for 10-15 years.

Demonstrative of its terroir, this wine displays richly with refined Asian pear, wet stone and slight oak flavors, creating a powerful yet ethereal impression after its lengthy and dry finish.

If you're a lover of big, dark, intense Pinot Noir, this Mercurey isn't to be missed! The Côte Chalonnaise village of Mercurey is home to a cadre of superb winegrowers making hearty, gutsy Pinot Noir without sacrificing structure or detail, and none of these growers is on a better roll than Gouffier. We often use wines such as this to "convert" aficionados of California Pinot Noir, as there's plenty of rich, spiced cherry intensity and a judicious kiss of oak. Organic.

Winemaker Notes Fine lace and silk are the words most often associated with this wine. Bright, intense colour and complex aromas evoking violet, black cherry and damp earth. According to the vintages, there are also notes of truffle and game. Refined tannins coat the palate. Good balance between texture and acidity. Long aftertaste, with notes of cherry and candied fruit.

Winemaker Notes Serious minerality, with earthy stone and plum notes. Dusty tannins and a long evolution in the glass that keeps you studying.

The 2021 Morgon Cuvée Corcelette comes from vines averaging 50-years in age, this vineyard suffering less reduction in volume than others due to the sandy soils. It is aged in used barrels for around 9 months. It has a quite compelling and complex bouquet, with raspberry and wild strawberry, rose petal and light chalky scents. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, finely chiseled and lending tension. The acidity keeps this taut, focused, and quite minerally towards the leaner-than-usual finish. There's moderate length with fine salinity. Bon vin.

Winemaker Notes Foillard's Morgon Eponym comes from the Charmes lieu-dit, one of the highest parcels in the appellation. In contrast to the grandiose, deeply structured Côte du Py and silky-smooth Corcelette, this cuvée features a bit more crunch with lots of bright acidity and a leaner, more mineral profile. It nonetheless shares the satin texture of all Foillard Morgons, and should age similarly well for those willing and able to wait.

This vintage from Jean Paul and Charly Thévenet tastes classic, earthy and old-school, It excels in the role of the quintessential, naturally made Morgon of dreams.

The 2020 La Grande Rue is similar to the bottle tasted at the Grands Jours; ample red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, fine minerality, quite "air" considering the growing season. The palate is medium bodied with supple tannins, fine depth, quite strict on the finish where one find a pinch of sour cherry and brown spices. Just needs a little more sustain on the aftertaste.

A slightly more elegant nose expresses aromas of honeysuckle, passion fruit, Asian style tea and cool essence of poached pear wisps. The caressing and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors possess a wonderfully sophisticated mouthfeel while delivering absolutely superb length on the balanced finale that has that element of 'presence'. Lovely juice with fine development potential. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!

Winemaker Notes The aromas of white flowers, peach, grilled almond and lemon peel dominate on a mineral-tinged background. The attack is full and warm on the palate with a lively and greedy finish.

Winemaker Notes Brilliant, pale straw hue with vibrant green reflections. Enticing tropical aromas of ripe guava, persimmon and piquant lime zest fill the glass, supported by herbaceous undertones of fresh grass and thyme.

New Zealand - Marlborough - Deliciously crisp and vibrant flavors of ripe lemon citrus, with hints of passion fruit

Sauvignon Blanc is a true reflection of the balanced and steady season, showcasing a broad array of aromas from white peach to chamomile and lemon zest. Sophisticated nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannin structure that gives this finesse and beauty. It’s very long and goes on for minutes. Precision.96Wine EnthusiastDelightfully approachable on the nose right away, with warm mocha notes and cool graphite aromas against Bing and black cherries. The palate is equally outrageously delicious and easy to love even in its unbridled youth, with more cherries, blackberries, raspberries and chocolate inside a framework of tannins made to measure and acid built like an invisible force field.

Winemaker Notes Coming from a classic, Bolgheri vintage, Promis shows a bright, ruby-red color. On the palate, it is silky, luscious, and complex, with a lingering finish. Pair with osso bucco, Bordelaise sauces, wild boar ravioli, or grilled cowboy ribeyes. Professional Ratings 94 James Suckling A lovely bag of mixed dried fruit on the nose with currants, cherries, raisins and more exotic fruit, such as dried papaya. Some vanilla pod, too. Full-bodied with generous, mouth-filling flavors, supported by firm, velvety tannins that push the fruit forward through the long, long finish. Always excellent Amarone. Drink or hold.

Winemaker Notes This vintage shows a bright, ruby red color. Lively, fresh fruit notes of cherry and red currants mixed with sweet spices. Full-bodied and soft with ripe fruit flavors and a long finish. A versatile wine that pairs well with light fare, white meats and heavy pastas.

Winemaker Notes Healthy, crunchy and well-ripened grapes produced musts that are not excessively rich in structure, considering what was expected from this vintage. They are rather characterized by a good acidity which supports the higher degree of alcohol of this vintage. The soft and silky tannins were already present in the musts and are the underlying characteristic of Guidalberto 2017. A wine that will need a longer time of aging in glass but that will surely develop an incredible bouquet and palate. Blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot

Winemaker Notes The elegance of Sangiovese variety is always the main character of Testamatta wine. This vintage shows how Sangiovese can be fresh, fruity on one hand, elegant, long and persistent on the other. 2018 is rich of blackberries and blueberries, earthy hints and light mineral undertone. It has a pronounced intensity accompanied by silky and important tannins that make the wine long and persistent. This Testamatta is persistent and rich of finesse, one of the greatest they have ever made. Professional Ratings 100 Decanter Finely textured, with a nuanced perfume that fills the glass and takes you to the intense underbrush of Tuscany. Succulent and yet savory, this has a lilting freshness that is overlaid with ripe berry fruits, sage and white pepper spice, and clear minerality in terms of its scraping texture that makes your mouth water on the finish. Feels light and sculpted and yet has an intensity that skewers you to the spot. This is a great wine, with scope and imagination that doesn't want to let you go. Genuinely stands out among the wines of this tasting, and these are a fine array of wines. As with Colore, Bibi Graetz selects only old vines, the youngest 50 years old from five different vineyard sites across Tuscany, all farmed organically. Fermentations in open 225l barrels with natural yeasts and manual punch downs.

Powerful and unique on the palate with pronounced herbal flavour; best served very cold or on the rocks, traditionally an after-dinner drink but increasingly enjoyed as a long drink.
